ReTitle
  • Files not showing preview? Make sure you've added files via drag-and-drop or the file picker. The preview updates as you configure rename options.
  • Red highlighted names? Two or more files would have the same name after renaming. Adjust your settings to avoid duplicates.
  • Metadata not extracting? Not all files contain metadata. Make sure your files are supported formats (JPEG, HEIC, MP4, MOV, MP3, PDF, etc.).
  • Changes not applying to extension? Toggle the "Rename file extension" option if you want transformations to affect the file extension.

SpeedyLauncher
  • Global hotkey not working? Check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility. You may need to remove and re-add the app.
  • Shortcuts not running? Ensure the shortcut exists in the Shortcuts app and that SpeedyLauncher has permission to run shortcuts.
  • Menu bar icon missing? Check if SpeedyLauncher is running in Activity Monitor. Try relaunching the app.
  • Number keys not selecting items? Make sure "Enable Keyboard Shortcuts" is turned on in Settings.

ClipboardMenu
  • Global shortcuts not working? Check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility. You may need to remove and re-add the app.
  • Referenced file showing as unavailable? Large files are stored as references to the original location. If you move or delete the original, the reference will break.
  • How do I save a snippet? Hover any history item and click the star button. Snippets are saved permanently.
  • How do I manage storage? In Settings, adjust max history items, storage size, and per-item size limits.
  • Where is data stored? Locally in ~/Library/Application Support/ClipboardMenu/.
  • Regex search? Click the .* button in the search bar to enable regex mode.

SpeedySpaces
  • Clicks or hotkeys don't switch Spaces? Switching needs Accessibility: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility. Naming, the menu bar strip and the Mission Control labels all work without it.
  • Moving a window to another Space does nothing? That one action needs Screen Recording. macOS silently refuses to hand a window to another app's drag without it; SpeedySpaces never records anything. Grant it, then relaunch.
  • Names vanished after a reset or reinstall? Names are keyed to each Space's window-server ID. Use Settings > General > Import to restore a configuration export; it re-attaches names by display and position when the IDs have changed.
  • Did it change my keyboard shortcuts? Only the ones you edit in Settings > Shortcuts. SpeedySpaces mirrors and edits macOS's own Mission Control shortcuts, the same ones shown in System Settings > Keyboard, and fills in ⌃- and ⌃= for desktops 11 and 12, which macOS leaves blank.
  • Where is my data? ~/Library/Application Support/SpeedySpaces/spaces.json. Export and import everything from Settings > General.

WindowShift
  • Windows move but don't tile or snap? Grant Screen Recording. Without it macOS won't start a real drag, so WindowShift falls back to plain repositioning. Nothing is ever recorded.
  • Holding ⌥ doesn't tile? Turn on System Settings > Desktop & Dock > “Hold ⌥ key while dragging a window to tile”, and let go of the rest of the trigger combo before you release the button.
  • Nothing happens at all? Accessibility is required. A dimmed menu bar icon means the app is switched off. The “Last drag” line in the menu explains what the last gesture did, or why it was ignored.
  • How do I change the trigger keys? Click the menu bar icon and toggle the chips under Trigger On. Magnetic snapping distance and the resize inset are defaults write keys in the dev.nwf.WindowShift domain.
  • Menu bar icon gone? Launch WindowShift again from Spotlight or Finder. It keeps running while hidden, and the icon comes back.

MoreCorners
  • A corner doesn't fire? Check the app isn't paused (the icon shows a slash), the frontmost app isn't in Exclusions, and you're not in a full-screen app with “Pause in full-screen apps” on.
  • Media keys, brightness or window actions do nothing? Those need Accessibility. The Behavior tab shows a live status row with an Open Settings button.
  • “Move App to Next Space” just beeps? That action needs Screen Recording, because it drives a real window drag; nothing is recorded. A Screen Recording row appears in Settings once you configure it.
  • Quick Note or Notification Center won't open? They use the globe shortcuts, so “Press 🌐 key” must stay enabled in System Settings > Keyboard.
  • macOS's own hot corner fires too? MoreCorners warns about clashes and links to Desktop & Dock so you can clear the system corner.
  • Uninstall? Quit, delete the app, and run defaults delete dev.nwf.MoreCorners.

ReBar
  • Spacing didn't change? macOS reads the spacing once per app, at launch. Restart the app in question, or use Log Out… to apply it everywhere at once.
  • Colour tab says Screen Recording is missing? Full Mirror needs it; grant it, then quit and reopen ReBar. Or switch Style to Background Tint, which needs no permission at all.
  • Themed bar is blank? Full Mirror needs System Settings > Menu Bar > “Show menu bar background” turned on.
  • A recording indicator appeared? Expected with Full Mirror: macOS shows it for any app that reads the screen. The pixels never leave memory. Background Tint shows no indicator.
  • Arrange made the menu bar disappear? That's normal. Applying an order restarts the menu bar, and it returns in a few seconds. A backup of the layout is saved to ~/Library/Application Support/ReBar/ before every change.
  • Something broke after a macOS update? Colour and Arrange rely on undocumented system behaviour that changes between releases. Check for a newer release.

SpeedyFan
  • Why did it ask for an admin password? Reading the SMC is unprivileged, but writing to it needs root, so the first manual fan change installs a small helper at /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.speedyfan.fanctl. One prompt; inspect, update or remove it in Settings > General.
  • “No fans found on this Mac”? Fanless Macs have nothing to control. Intel Macs are untested.
  • Fans went back to Auto on their own? By design: the thermal failsafe (default 95 °C), the stuck-fan guard, the return-to-Auto timer, or sleep. The protections can't be switched off; their notifications can.
  • Force-quit with fans pinned? Relaunch SpeedyFan (it cleans up at launch), run sudo fanctl auto-all, or reboot. SMC fan state resets on reboot.
  • Sensor names look like TCMz? Apple doesn't document Apple Silicon sensor keys, so unknown sensors show their raw four-character key.
  • Uninstall? Quit the app (fans return to Auto), then sudo rm /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.speedyfan.fanctl and delete the app.

SpeedyTorrent
  • Few or no peers? Check the listening port and the router port-mapping status in the status bar. SpeedyTorrent maps ports with NAT-PMP only; routers that speak only UPnP need a manual port forward. Port, peer-count and encryption changes take effect after a relaunch.
  • Magnet stuck at “Fetching metadata…”? Metadata comes from peers found through the DHT and trackers. Give it a minute; a torrent with no peers never resolves.
  • Torrent re-checking after launch? Resume data is trusted only while every file's modification time still matches. If anything changed, it re-hashes rather than guess.
  • Where is my data? Downloads go to the folder you chose (default ~/Downloads). Resume data and settings live in ~/Library/Application Support/SpeedyTorrent/.
  • Which protocols? BEP 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 19, 20, 23 and 27, plus MSE/PE encryption. Not yet: BitTorrent v2, µTP, UPnP.
  • Please use SpeedyTorrent only for content you have the right to download and share.

LocalMusicGen
  • First launch is slow? It fetches a private Python runtime and the engine's dependencies into ~/Library/Application Support/LocalMusicGen/. That takes a minute or two and is narrated on the welcome sheet; the Library and playback work meanwhile.
  • A model won't run, or the Mac runs out of memory? Check the Models tab before downloading: it shows disk size, memory needed and a speed tier. The largest song models want 48 GB of RAM.
  • Errors mentioning torchcodec or ffmpeg? Some model families read audio through ffmpeg: brew install ffmpeg.
  • A model asks for a Hugging Face token? A few repositories are gated. Paste a token from your Hugging Face account; it is kept in the Keychain.
  • Models filling the internal drive? Settings > Models & Downloads can move the whole model library to another folder or an external SSD.
  • Can I release what it makes? Every model shows its licence before you download it, and many don't permit commercial use. Check the licence of any model whose output you plan to publish.

Icon Setter
  • “Set Custom Icon…” isn't in Finder's Services menu? macOS registers it with LaunchServices the first time the app runs. Launch Icon Setter once, then relaunch Finder or log out and back in.
  • An item came back as “Failed”? Setting an icon writes into the item itself, so it needs write access. Read-only volumes, items you don't own and system-protected paths will refuse.
  • Finder is still showing the old icon? The app tells Finder the item changed, but a stubborn window can lag. Close and reopen it, or press ⌘⌥Esc and relaunch Finder.
  • Want the original icon back? Add the item and press Reset to Default Icon. That restores the system default; it does not bring back a previous custom icon, because none is kept.
  • Your design vanished when you quit? Only the last-used source tab is remembered. Shape, colours, angle and symbol are not saved between launches yet.
  • A symbol you expected isn't in the list? The browser reads your Mac's own SF Symbols catalogue, so a symbol added in a later macOS won't appear until you're on that version.
  • Uninstall? Quit, delete the app, and run defaults delete com.n14395.icon-setter. Icons you have already set stay as they are; reset them first if you want them gone.

Little Kanban
  • Where is my board? One JSON file at ~/Library/Application Support/LittleKanban/board.json (inside the app's container on macOS), with rolling backups beside it. Reveal it from Settings > Data.
  • Deleted something by mistake? ⌘Z undoes any change. Trashed cards, columns and boards are kept for 30 days by default; open the Trash to restore them.
  • Not syncing between devices? Sync uses your own iCloud account: sign in to the same Apple Account on each device and check Settings > Data > iCloud. It's same-person sync only; there is no sharing with other people.
  • Reminders not arriving? Permission is requested the first time a reminder is due. If you declined, re-enable notifications for Little Kanban in System Settings.
  • How do I back up or move my board? Export from Settings > Data as a .littlekanban file (the same format as the board file) or as Markdown. Importing merges; it never overwrites.

Philips Monitor Control
  • DDC/CI not detected on M1/M2 Mac? Built-in HDMI doesn't support DDC/CI. Use USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode or a USB-C-to-DisplayPort adapter.
  • Permission denied on Linux? Add your user to the i2c group (sudo usermod -aG i2c $USER and log out/in), or use the Flatpak which bundles permissions.
  • Different Philips model? The app talks standard DDC/CI. Tested on BDM4037U; other models may expose a different subset.
  • Settings not persisting? Some Philips firmware reverts on power-cycle. That's a monitor-side limitation, not an app limitation.

Metric Tracker
  • How do I back up my data? Go to Settings and use the Export function to save your data as a JSON file. Import to restore.
  • Can I transfer data to a new device? Export from the old device, transfer the JSON file (AirDrop, email), import on the new device.
  • What happens if I reach the free limit? You can continue using your existing metrics. To add more, purchase the unlimited upgrade — yours forever, no subscription.
  • Can I edit past entries? Yes — tap any day in the nine-day history strip on the input screen.
  • Where is my data stored? Locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

More Tweaks
  • How do I reset a tweak? Every tweak has its own reset-to-default button. Or use the global reset (with confirmation dialog).
  • How do I back up my settings? Export to JSON. On another machine, Import shows a diff preview before anything changes.
  • Will it work on my distribution? Native packages for Arch, Fedora, Debian/Ubuntu. Flatpak for any distro. GNOME 45–49.
  • Shell extension features not working? Make sure the bundled Shell extension is enabled. Try logging out and back in.

Relative Chess
  • Page is blank or won't start? Relative Chess uses ES6 modules; it needs to be loaded over http(s)://, not file://.
  • How do I save or replay a game? Save to download as JSON. Load to import a saved game and step through with the arrow keys.
  • AI too easy or too hard? Switch difficulty in the game menu — Easy, Medium, Hard each adjust the minimax search depth.
  • Change the board size or rules? Outer-board size and the Aristotelian / Leibnizian frame are both configurable on the new-game screen.
