Before You Contact Us
Here are some common questions and tips that might help:
ReTitle
- Files not showing preview? Make sure you've added files via drag-and-drop or the file picker. The preview updates automatically as you configure rename options.
- Red highlighted names? This indicates a naming conflict - two or more files would have the same name after renaming. Adjust your settings to avoid duplicates.
- Metadata not extracting? Not all files contain metadata. Make sure your files are supported formats (JPEG, HEIC, MP4, MOV, MP3, PDF, etc.).
- Changes not applying to extension? Toggle the "Rename file extension" option if you want transformations to affect the file extension.
SpeedLauncher
- Global hotkey not working? Check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility to ensure SpeedLauncher has permission. You may need to remove and re-add the app.
- Shortcuts not running? Ensure the shortcut exists in the Shortcuts app and that SpeedLauncher has permission to run shortcuts.
- Menu bar icon missing? Check if SpeedLauncher is running. You can find it in Activity Monitor. Try relaunching the app.
- Number keys not selecting items? Make sure "Enable Keyboard Shortcuts" is turned on in Settings.
Metric Tracker
- How do I back up my data? Go to Settings and use the Export function to save your data as a JSON file. This file can be imported later to restore your metrics.
- Can I transfer data to a new device? Export your data from the old device, transfer the JSON file (via AirDrop, email, etc.), then import it on the new device.
- What happens if I reach the 5 metric limit? You can continue using your existing metrics. To add more, subscribe to the unlimited plan for £5/year.
- Can I edit past entries? Yes, tap on any day in the nine-day history strip on the input screen to add or modify entries for that day.
- Where is my data stored? All data is stored locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server - your data stays private and under your control.
ClipboardMenu
- Global shortcuts not working? Check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility to ensure ClipboardMenu has permission. You may need to remove and re-add the app.
- Referenced file showing as unavailable? Large files are stored as references to the original location. If you move or delete the original file, the reference will break. Items with an orange link icon are references.
- How do I save a snippet? Hover over any history item and click the star button. Snippets are saved permanently and won't be auto-deleted like history items.
- How do I manage storage? Go to Settings to adjust maximum history items, storage size, and per-item size limits. Use "Wipe Snippets Database" to clear all snippets if needed.
- Where is my clipboard data stored? All data is stored locally in ~/Library/Application Support/ClipboardMenu/. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
- Can I search with regular expressions? Yes, click the ".*" button in the search bar to enable regex mode for advanced pattern matching.
